Fun mountain, kind staff, cool vibe. Lines are short but there are no high speed lifts. Not as vast as the big resorts but the versatility of the terrain makes up for it. On the upside, Taos has avoided the crazy price hikes that plague the Vail Resorts (as of 2017) -- which means reasonable lift ticket prices and great ski school instruction. In my opinion, lessons are THE reason to come here. I got an advanced group lesson for $70 with very high quality instruction. Because I was the only advanced student that day, it was a private lesson. You can't get that at most mountains.

We also did a day of tubing with the family (kids 5 and 2). Tubing was a little pricey and the tubing area was crowded but the kids had lots of fun and the staff at the tubing hill were very pleasant as well.

I was with a beginner at the pioneer slope and I paid a lot of attention to the ski schools and lessons. I will say I was highly impressed with their staff. They all had great attitudes and great instruction. From private lessons, kids, adults, skiing, snowboarding, all of it their instructional staff seemed great.

Incredible ski resort that is definitely worth a visit.

If you are taking the family skiing especially for the first time and/or getting lessons then I'd definitely recommend Taos.

It's a really beautiful mountain. But the lifts are absolutely horrendous. The people working them don't maintain the launch clearance. They are all going super fast so buckle up. Also, this is a high difficulty mountain, not that it's not designed that way, just be ready if you're not. The area at the bottom is nice though. The road going up to the mountain is in abysmal shape. It doesn't deserve to me more than a locals mountain.

If you're boarding (especially for the first time) I wouldn't rule out getting lessons here but Angel Fire and Red River trails are a little more board friendly.

Awesome atmosphere. Laid back. Spectacular views. Intense skiing.

Trails are more ski friendly, I was snowboarding there and came across more flats than I cared for.

The best. Vacationed here. Lived here. Worked here. The best terrain and small town feel.
